May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
2 Thessalonians 2: 16-17
MEET
Meet Zafar Bhatti and his wife Nawab. They live in Pakistan, a country where the minority Christian population faces regular discrimination. In 2012 Zafar was arrested and falsely accused of sending a blasphemous text message. He was later sentenced to life in prison.
He is serving his sentence in solitary confinement and is only allowed to leave his cell for a short walk once a day. He spends a lot of time reading his Bible. If finances permit Nawab visits every Thursday. She misses her husband desperately.
THINK
Imagine what it would be like to live in permanent solitary confinement. Imagine what it would be like to be forcibly separated from your spouse. Isolation and loneliness can lead to depression and a loss of hope. Encouragement is vital. How would you want someone to encourage you in those circumstances?
PRAY
Pray for this couple and that their faith with be strengthened in this difficult time.
Pray for religious freedom in Pakistan.
