Christians in a northern Kenyan village are rejoicing as they begin construction on a new church. In this area, death threats and persecution from Muslim neighbours forced them to meet in the safety of a local police station. Front-Line Workers say the construction of a new church is a step toward the full acceptance of Christianity in the village. As work on the new building began, some young Muslim men opposed to the church’s construction confronted the church’s leaders. The church leaders then went to the local police for assistance. The police chief told the group of young Muslims, “Every citizen has the right to worship in a way that he or she is convicted is the true and the right way.” This outcome has encouraged local Believers who are anticipating the opening of the new church facility.
